Treatment for Heart Attack and Other Conditions
Treatment for heart attack and other cardiovacular diseases (CVD) often rely on medications.
While treatments for heart related conditions have made great progress, unfortunately, CVD is still the major cause of premature death in USA and Europe. Moreover, the results of heart attack, stroke and other CVD complications are the cause of disability and much sadness.
Even though the pharmaceutical industry has developed many effective drugs for the treatment for heart attack and CVD in general, often side effects and in many cases, undue concern mean that patients stop taking their medications. You should never do this unless instructed by your doctor. However, we believe that everybody should have a clear understanding of what they are taking.
Below you will find a list of commonly prescribed medications to help treat heart attack and other cardiovascular conditions. In order to find the information on a specific drug just click on a letter and select the medication of interest or scroll down the page.
The information provided is by the National Library of Medicine and the National Institute of Health. Each drug selected will take you to a new page kindly provided by MedLine Plus. Moreover, this site can also provide information on medications for conditions other than CVD.
